The Contest:The contest has two components. The first component is a daily random drawing from among valid entries submitted on-line. One daily prize will be awarded for the first component. The second component is a random drawing from among valid entries submitted on-line and a grand prize will be awarded for the second component. The odds of winning depend on the number of correct entries received.
Entry: Valid entries can only be submitted electronically at wktv.com. During weekday newscasts; 5:00AM – 7:00AM, 12:00PM – 1:00PM, 5:00PM – 6:00PM, 6:00PM – 6:30PM and 11:00PM – 11:35PM, a “codeword” for that newscast will be shown. Viewers must go to the entry form at wktv.com and fill out the entry form, including the correct “codeword” for that newscast and submit. Only fully filled out entries, with the correct “codeword”, will be accepted. All valid entries for a contest day will be gathered electronically and at noon the following day, a winner, from the valid entries, will be selected at random using the electronic selection method employed by the “U Pick Em” contest service. The winner will be announced during the NewsChannel 2 Live @ Five NewsHour the day it has been selected.
All valid entrees in the daily contest will also be eligible for the Grand Prize drawing. Viewers who have not entered the daily contest may enter the Grand Prize drawing separately by on-line entry at wktv.com.
Deadline: For the daily contest, viewers have until the end of each newscast to submit a valid entry using the “codeword” displayed in that newscast. The “codeword” will be changed at the end of each newscast time period making submission of a valid entry not possible until the next newscast “codeword” is displayed. At that time, only entries using the new “codeword” will be judged valid. The first day of the contest is Monday, November 7, 2011 and the contest ends with the selection of the prize winner for contest day Thursday, December 1, 2011. The deadline to enter separately in the Grand Prize contest is 11:59:59PM, December 1, 2011.
Prize: Only one (1) prize will be awarded daily. The prize is one (1) $100 gift certificate, which can be redeemed only at businesses in the New Hartford Shopping Center. There will also be only one (1) Grand Prize awarded. The Grand Prize is a $2,000 shopping spree to be held near Herb Philipson's at the New Hartford Shopping Center on Friday, December 2, 2011 between 5:30 and 6:00pm.
Eligibility: Contestants must be legal U.S. residents, 18 years or older and possess a valid driver license. In order to be eligible for the grand prize, entrants must pre-register on WKTV.com. The entrant must then present ID at the entry table near Herb Philipson's at the New Hartford Shopping Center between 3:00 and 5:00pm on Friday, December 2, 2011 to receive an official entry ticket. The winner of the Grand Prize must be present at the Grand Prize drawing at the New Hartford Shopping Center on Friday, December 2, 2011 between 5:30 and 6:00pm and must claim the Grand Prize within five (5) minutes of the Grand Prize drawing. If the selected winner fails to claim the Grand Prize within the designated time, that drawing will be voided and another Grand Prize drawing will be held. This process will be repeated, if needed, until the Grand Prize is claimed within the designated time.
Conditions: No purchase necessary.
The odds of winning depend on the number of correct entries received. A purchase will not increase chances of winning.
Only one (1) prize per family and/or household in the daily “codeword” contest, over the course of this contest.
Winners of the daily “codeword” contest must claim their prize, in person, at the station, 5936 Smith Hill Road, Deerfield, NY, during regular business hours (9:00AM – 4:00PM) Monday through Friday.
Photo identification is required to claim prize.
Failure to claim prize with in thirty (30) days of notification will result in forfeiture of prize.
Contest winner must take possession of the Prize. Prizes are non-transferable. No substitutions are permitted.
Redemption of prize is subject to any restrictions, and or conditions established by participating vendors.
Winner is responsible for any and all federal, state and local taxes in conjunction with acceptance of any prize.
Winner is responsible for any costs related to the acceptance of the prize.
By participating in the contest, the winner agrees to allow their name, voice or likeness used in any advertising, promotion or broadcasting material relating to this contest, without additional financial or other compensation, and to sign a publicity release prior to acceptance of any prize.
WKTV reserves the right to impose an additional age limit.
WKTV may not be held responsible for any technical or mail difficulties that results in a failure in the delivery of an eligible entry, printing or typographical errors in any contest related materials or for eligible entries lost due to computer failure.
WKTV, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of the WKTV Web Site or who is otherwise in violation of the rules. The station further reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify the contest if it is not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort.
Employees of WKTV and Smith Media License Holding, LLC, New Hartford Shopping Center and businesses operating in the New Hartford Shopping Center and their immediate family members are not eligible to win.
Void where prohibited.
WKTV reserves the right to supplement or change contest rules at any time.
The resale or auction of WKTV prizes will result in disqualification for all future WKTV contests.
Copies of the written contest rules are available during regular business hours at the main studio of WKTV 5936 Smith Hill Road, Utica, NY 13502.
All decisions of the WKTV contest coordinator are final.
*On Monday, November 7, 2011, a technical problem was detected that affected the ability of viewers to submit entries for the 6:00PM newscast. As a result, the contest coordinator has decided to void the November 7, 2011 6:00PM codeword.
