The Contest:
Nominators submit an essay online describing why the mom cited by the nominator deserves to be "saluted" as the best mom. The nominator also has the option to upload a picture of the nominated mom. The uploaded picture does not influence choice as a finalist.
A panel of judges will review all submitted essays and chose five finalists. Those five essays will then be posted on the internet for voting by the general public. The submission receiving the most votes will be the Grand Prize winner.
To Enter:
This is an internet only contest. No purchase necessary. Essays must be submitted by entry at http://wktv.upickem.net/engine/Welcome.aspx?contestid=15860. Essays will be accepted beginning April 12, 2010. The deadline for submitting an essay is 11:59:59PM EDT, April 25, 2010. Voting for the Grand Prize winner will be on-line only via wktv.com. Voting will begin on April 29, 2010 and end at 11:59:59PM EDT, May 6, 2010. The winners will be announced during the Live @ Five NewsHour on May 7, 2010.
Eligibility:
Nominators must be at least 13 years old, and those they designate to receive a prize must be legal U.S. residents, 18 years or older and a New York State residents. Employees of WKTV, Smith Media License Holdings, LLC, Ahsi Day Spa & Spa, Carl's Furniture City, The Olde Wicker Mill Gift Shoppe and Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard and their immediate families are not eligible to enter or win.
Prizes:
The Grand Prize is a prize package including a $200 gift certificate from Turning Stone Ahsi Spa, plus a $50 food voucher; a $250 gift certificate from Fly Creek Cider Mill; a $250 gift certificate from The Olde Wicker Mill; a $250 gift certificate from Carl's Furniture City.
Only one (1) Grand Prize will be awarded.
CONDITIONS:
Only one essay per designated prize recipient will be accepted.
Contest winners must take possession of their prizes. Prizes won are non-transferable.
Winners may be required to sign an IRS Form W-9 or equivalent.
By participating in the contest, the winners agree to have their name, voice or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without additional financial or other compensation, and to sign a publicity release prior to acceptance of the prize.
Winners are responsible for payment of all federal, state and local taxes on prize and for any other expenses not specified herein, and relating to the acceptance and use of their prize.
No prize substitutions will be permitted.
The decision of the judging panel regarding the top five essays will be final.
All decisions of the contest coordinator, with regard to awarding the prize, the selection of the winner and the interpretation of the rules, shall be final. Each contestant, by virtue of entering the contest, agrees to accept the decisions of the contest coordinator as final.
The winners will be required to sign a liability release prior to accepting their prizes and agree to hold WKTV, its corporate licensee, Smith Media License Holding, LLC, its corporate parent, affiliated companies and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives of each of them, harmless against any and all losses, damages, penalties, claims, action, suits, costs, and expenses (including attorney’s fees) of any kind whatsoever, including any property damage, personal injury or death to any participant or third person arising out of or in connection with participation in the contest or with use of any prizes awarded in connection with the contest.
Neither WKTV, its corporate licensee, Smith Media License Holding, LLC, its corporate parent, affiliated companies and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives of each of them, are responsible for any typographical errors in any contest related materials or for stolen, lost, late, misdirected, damaged, incomplete, illegible entries.
Winners are responsible for any and all departure taxes, fuel surcharges, incidental travel-related expensed, including but not limited to, additional costs resulting from changes in designated departure or arrival schedules, any additional transfer or other ground transportation charges, meals and any additional hotel expenses.
WKTV, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of the WKTV Web Site or who is otherwise in violation of the rules. The station further reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify the contest if it is not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort.
Failure to comply with the contest rules may result in a contestant’s disqualification at the sole discretion of WKTV.
Copies of these rules may be obtained at the WKTV studios during regular business hours, and on-line at www.wktv.com.
WKTV reserves the right to change these rules at any time. Changes will be reflected in the written rules at that time.
